Caribbean Court of Justice and Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions Launch Groundbreaking AI Collaboration

The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) will be the first court to use Aida, the new Artificial Intelligence (AI) based technology developed by the Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS).

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – 11th November 2023 – The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) and the Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS) announced a collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) transforming justice, an initiative set to redefine legal and judicial research across the region.

The CAJS has released an artificial intelligence (AI) based tool called Aida, designed to streamline legal research processes. The CCJ will be the first court to use the new technology which is set to revolutionize how legal professionals access and analyze information, saving valuable time and resources.

Aida, or Adaptive Information Discovery Assistant, was developed by CAJS to provide judiciaries and legal researchers with innovative AI-based tools for enhancing legal research and streamlining discovery and analysis processes.

Justice Adrian Saunders, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “The introduction of these new AI tools by CAJS is a watershed moment for the Caribbean judicial landscape. The CCJ is currently working with CAJS to develop an online portal powered by Aida technology to enable legal professionals with unparalleled research capabilities based on CCJ case law, rules, and procedures. Aida will also be used to provide the public with new and more accessible tools to better understand the work of the Court and its vital role in the Caribbean. Ultimately, these innovations will fortify the foundations of justice delivery in our region.”
