BELIZE CITY, BELIZE – The Executive Director of the Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS), Mr. Bevil Wooding, paid a courtesy visit to the CAJS administrative office at the Witfield Tower in Belize City, Belize, from 7 – 10 February 2023. During the visit Mr. Wooding reviewed ongoing projects with the dedicated CAJS team in Belize, and met with key stakeholders, including the Attorney General, Mrs. Magali Marin-Young.
Belize-based Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Deborah Thurton, expressed thanks for the visit, “It was a great pleasure to have Mr. Wooding visit our office. His presence was a great motivation for our team and his insights were invaluable to enhancing the work being done to support our stakeholders in Belize and across the region. We are grateful for his support and look forward to his return soon.”
During his time in Belize, Mr. Wooding also met with the Attorney General, Mrs. Magali Marin-Young, at her Belmopan base to explore ways in which the CAJS and the Attorney General’s office can collaborate on initiatives that support justice reform and improve access to justice in Belize.
Mrs. Marin-Young shared her thoughts on the visit, saying, “I am always grateful for the opportunity to meet with Mr. Wooding and to discuss issues of common interest. I am confident that this visit will further strengthen the relationship between the CAJS and the Belizean government.”
The impact of Mr. Wooding’s visit is expected to be far-reaching, with the possibility of new initiatives and projects being launched that will improve access to justice in Belize. Speaking on the potential of the visit, Mr. Wooding said, “I am greatly encouraged by the enthusiasm of the local team and the willingness of the Belizean government deepen their support of the Agency. We are committed to making a positive impact in the country and I believe that this visit has built the strong foundation of trust and partnership between the CAJS and Belize.”
