Turks and Caicos Judiciary Embarks on Digital Transformation Initiative with CAJS

The Executive Director of the CAJS and Chief Justice Agyemang finalized plans for initiating a pioneering project to implement the Curia Court Management System developed by CAJS in the Turks and Caicos judiciary. The Curia system will bring electronic filing and automated case management technology to all courts.

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands – On Thursday, 5 January 2023, the Executive Director of the Caribbean Agency for Justice Solutions (CAJS), Mr. Bevil Wooding, paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Justice of the Turks and Caicos Islands, Ms. Mabel Agyemang, at her office in Providenciales. Mr. Wooding was accompanied by Mr. Richard Wall, the Chief Technology Officer at CAJS.

During the meeting, Mr. Wooding and Chief Justice Agyemang discussed a range of strategies to promote access to justice and strengthen the rule of law in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The interactions focused on digital transformation and the use of technology to improve the delivery of court services. They were joined by other senior court officials and explored potential areas of collaboration between the CAJS and the judiciary of the Turks and Caicos Islands, including support for mediation and legal aid programs.

In addition, Mr. Wooding and Chief Justice Agyemang finalized plans for initiating a pioneering project to implement the Curia Court Management System developed by CAJS in the Turks and Caicos judiciary. The Curia system will bring electronic filing and automated case management technology to all courts.

“This introduction of the CAJS Curia technology represents a significant step forward in modernizing the justice system in the Turks and Caicos to make it more efficient and effective for all users. I am also grateful for the CAJS’ commitment to support our mediation and legal aid programs. Their support will play a vital role in ensuring that everyone has access to justice, regardless of their financial means. I am excited about the potential for this pioneering initiative, and I look forward to deepening our collaboration with the CAJS.”

Mr. Wooding expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and the productive discussion with Chief Justice Agyemang and the other senior court officials. “The CAJS is committed to supporting the judiciary and legal fraternity in Turks and Caicos, as we have successfully done in other judiciaries actors in the region,” he said.
